------------------------------------------------------- About this work In this work I explore the feelings of containment and claustrophobia that permeate much of our existence in today’s world. The face in the painting is pressed up against the picture plane in a way that suggests the person is trapped within a small space, and has been rendered powerless. However, emotions such as fear, anger, and desperation are absent from the face. Instead it wears an expression of quiet surrender. This work was first shown in my exhibition True Life Story in 2004.
